DADDY, the new band put together by Will
Kimbrough (2005 Americana Music Association Instrumentalist of the
Year) and Tommy Womack (Two-time winner of the Nashville Scene Best Song
Award), burst on the roots music scene in 2005 with their first
release "At The Women's Club". Drawing on juke-joint blues,
swampy-groove country and a lot of rock and roll, with stops in gospel and
beat-poet territory along the way, DADDY was hailed by critics and fans
alike for their raucous live performances and recordings that embrace a wide
scope of what's great about American roots music. Together, Kimbrough and
Womack just click. Kimbrough’s wide-ranging abilities, sweet and reckless by
turns, dovetails with Womack’s slash-and-burn style to produce a sound that
is both exciting and heartfelt.
As impressive as the co-leaders’ credentials
are the rest of the band's are just a stellar; Paul Griffith is one of
Nashville’s most sought-after session drummers, bassest Dave Jacques often
plays with John Prine and Emmylou Harris and on keys, John Deaderick tours
with some of the biggest names in country music (Dixie Chicks, Michael
McDonald, Patty Griffin). Behind DADDY's charismatic front men, they are
able to cut loose and create fun, soul satisfying music.
With country-twang and a few Rolling Stone's licks, DADDY covers all
the bases that mainstream music has ignored.
